What Does a Typical Training Session Look Like?
Every session follows a structured approach designed to maximise player development.
Dynamic Warm-Up
We begin with our Apex Warm-Up, preparing players physically and mentally for the session.
This includes:
- Movement preparation
- Mobility
- Activation
- Agility
- Coordination
- Ball-based warm-up activities
The goal is to reduce injury risk while preparing players to perform at their best.
Technical Skill Development
Strong fundamentals create confident players.
Throughout the session we develop:
- Passing accuracy
- Catching technique
- Footwork
- Ball handling
- Shooting
- Defensive techniques
- Interceptions
- Rebounding
- Movement off the ball
Players receive regular coaching and feedback to help refine their technique.
Tactical Learning
Netball is a game of intelligent decisions.
Training includes realistic scenarios where players learn:
- Creating space
- Timing attacking runs
- Defensive positioning
- Circle movement
- Transition from defence to attack
- Centre pass strategies
- Communication
- Reading the game
Players don’t just learn what to do—they learn why it works.
Position-Specific Coaching
As players progress, they receive coaching specific to their preferred positions.
Sessions help players better understand the responsibilities of:
- Goal Shooter (GS)
- Goal Attack (GA)
- Wing Attack (WA)
- Centre (C)
- Wing Defence (WD)
- Goal Defence (GD)
- Goal Keeper (GK)
Understanding positional roles helps players make better decisions during matches.
Match Play
Players then apply everything they’ve learned in competitive game situations.
This allows coaches to reinforce learning while giving players the opportunity to:
- Make decisions under pressure
- Communicate effectively
- Build confidence
- Work as a team
- Develop tactical awareness
Match play is one of the most enjoyable and valuable parts of every training session.
Building Better Athletes
Modern netball demands more than technical skill.
Our training naturally develops important athletic qualities, including:
- Speed
- Agility
- Balance
- Coordination
- Quick reactions
- Endurance
- Efficient movement
These physical qualities help players perform with greater confidence and consistency throughout a match.
Learning Through Positive Coaching
Our coaches believe players improve most when they feel supported.
Training sessions encourage players to:
- Ask questions
- Learn from mistakes
- Support teammates
- Try new skills
- Build confidence
- Enjoy the learning process
Every player develops differently, and our coaching reflects that.
